Faith communities pray for a sustainable energy future

Every Wednesday morning between 7.30 & 9.00
Outside Parliament, Cnr. Roeland & Parliament Street, Cape Town Posters, badges, solar jars and candles will be provided by a SAFCEI volunteer. Wear religious attire if appropriate or an Earth Keeper T-shirt.

Nuclear energy is financially unaffordable and environmentally unsustainable. It puts an unacceptable burden on future generations because of hidden decommissioning costs and radioactive waste that must be managed for thou- sands of years. Nuclear energy provides only a few highly specialised jobs.

SAFCEI calls on Cabinet to reject the proposed nuclear build and expand its renewable energy programme. SAFCEI calls for meaningful public participation and transparent decision-making and call on our government to be accountable.

We believe in the power of silent, prayerful protest. As people of faith we can make a bold statement about our moral responsibility to care for all life. Our quiet presence can make a lot of noise.
